CVE-2023-22395

Connectivity loss via MPLS packet mbuf leak

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Memory leak in the Junos OS kernel allows attackers to interrupt device connectivity with crafted MPLS packets on an adjacent network. Packets destined for an IRB interface in an MPLS scenario leave kernel mbufs unreleased, so repeated traffic steadily exhausts the buffer pool. Exploitation requires adjacency and the affected MPLS/IRB configuration; sustained packet delivery causes connectivity loss that persists until reboot.
