CVE-2023-22393Network attack vector

RPD crash via invalid BGP route next-hop

Published Jan 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Improper BGP route validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash RPD. BGP route processing accepts an invalid next-hop instead of rejecting the route, causing the Routing Protocol Daemon to terminate. The condition affects only systems without an import policy; repeated receipt and processing of the route sustains the service interruption.
