Privilege escalation via installer version.dll loading
Published Feb 15, 2023 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Untrusted DLL loading in ELECOM Camera Assistant 1.00 and QuickFileDealer 1.2.1 and earlier allows local users to gain privileges. Each installer loads version.dll from its own directory without restricting the search to a trusted location. Exploitation requires tricking a user into placing the malicious DLL in that directory and running the installer, which executes its code with administrator privileges.
