Arbitrary code execution via unverified firmware updates
Published Jan 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025
Improper update verification in Snap One WattBox WB-300-IP-3 WB10.9a17 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code over a LAN. The proprietary LAN update protocol accepts a malformed update file without verifying the authenticity of the supplied firmware data. Access to the device's LAN update service is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code on the appliance.
