Privilege escalation via stored log-viewer script execution
Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Jan 17, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in SAUTER Controls modu525 with moduWeb allows remote attackers to force actions through authenticated users. The log viewer renders attacker-controlled log content without neutralizing active web content, causing script execution in an authenticated viewer's browser. The attacker needs no account, but an authenticated user must view the logs; resulting script execution can perform actions with that user's privileges.
