Input validation in Oracle Java SE 8u361, 11.0.18, 17.0.6, and 20 allows remote attackers to modify accessible data. ProcessBuilder.start() checked command arguments for null characters but skipped the command-name element, allowing native process invocation to interpret a truncated command. Exploitation requires network-supplied untrusted code in a sandboxed Java Web Start application or applet; trusted-code server deployments are not affected.
