CVE-2023-21839Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Pre-auth code execution via attacker-controlled JNDI lookup

Published Jan 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Information disclosure in Oracle WebLogic Server 12.2.1.3.0, 12.2.1.4.0, and 14.1.1.0.0 allows remote attackers to read accessible data. During IIOP deserialization, ForeignOpaqueReference.getReferent() passes attacker-controlled remoteJNDIName to a JNDI lookup that loads a remote reference. Unauthenticated T3 or IIOP network access is sufficient; Oracle reports confidentiality loss, while a validated Rapid7 module demonstrates Java code execution as the Oracle process user.
