CVE-2023-2183Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Viewer-triggered alert delivery via unchecked test endpoint

Published Jun 6, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Missing authorization in Grafana Alerting allows remote authenticated users with Viewer access to send arbitrary test alerts through the API. The test-receiver endpoint accepts and delivers attacker-supplied notification content without enforcing the role check applied by the user interface. A valid Viewer session is required, and successful requests can send phishing or bulk messages through configured email, Slack, and other receivers.
