Subscriber-level order manipulation via unchecked AJAX action
Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Missing authorization in WooCommerce Order Status Change Notifier 1.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter any order. The wc_osc_update_order_status_comment AJAX action accepts attacker-chosen order_id and status values without an authorization check. Subscriber access is sufficient to mark arbitrary orders as processing or paid, while CSRF permits a logged-in user's browser to submit the request.
