Service crash via out-of-bounds packet read
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Out-of-bounds reading in Microsoft Message Queuing on affected Windows releases allows remote attackers to crash the MSMQ service. The service reads beyond an input buffer while parsing a crafted packet received by its network listener, terminating mqsvc.exe. The optional Message Queuing component must be enabled and reachable; the reported effect is a service interruption, not a Windows system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
