Privilege elevation via predefined-key memory corruption
Published Jan 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Windows Kernel type confusion in registry virtualization allows local users to elevate privileges through crafted predefined-key operations. Registry virtualization insufficiently handles predefined keys, corrupting kernel memory when a low-privilege process submits the crafted registry sequence. Successful exploitation requires local code execution and grants SYSTEM-level control over the affected host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
