CVE-2023-21653Network attack vector

Remote modem crash via RRC reconfiguration assertion

Published Sep 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Reachable assertion in Qualcomm modem firmware allows remote attackers to crash the modem via a crafted RRC reconfiguration message. Qualcomm discloses only that modem RRC reconfiguration-message processing reaches an assertion; no function or validation defect is public. No privileges or user interaction are required, and the documented consequence is a transient modem outage without confidentiality or integrity impact.
