Local file disclosure via external entity resolution
Published May 16, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
XML external entity injection in Schneider Electric OPC Factory Server before 3.63SP2 allows local users to read file-system data. When the software loads a malicious XML configuration file, its XML parser resolves attacker-supplied external entity references against local files. Exploitation requires local access and user interaction to load the file; the reported consequence is unauthorized file read only.
