Local memory disclosure via trustlet screen update
Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Samsung Blockchain Keystore before 1.3.12.1 allows local users to read arbitrary memory through its trustlet. The bc_tui trustlet processes BC_TUI_CMD_UPDATE_SCREEN without adequate bounds enforcement, permitting the command to access memory outside the intended buffer. Exploitation requires local access and high privileges according to Samsung’s assessment, and the disclosed impact is limited to memory confidentiality.
