CVE-2023-21502

Privilege escalation via improperly validated debugging commands

Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Improper input validation in Samsung Mobile Devices on Android 12 and 13 allows local users to gain privileges through debugging commands. The FactoryTest application accepts debugging commands without adequate input validation, but Samsung has not disclosed the command interface or rejected-input rule. Physical access is required under Samsung's CVSS assessment, and successful exploitation raises privileges on the device.
