CVE-2023-21501

Local code execution via unchecked trustlet input

Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Improper input validation in the mPOS fiserve trustlet in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR May-2023 Release 1 allows local users to execute code. The trustlet processes locally supplied input without the required boundary check, but Samsung has not disclosed the affected command or data structure. High local privileges are required, and exploitation executes arbitrary code across a trust boundary on select Android 13 devices.
