Local code execution via trustlet memory overwrite
Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Improper input validation in Samsung Mobile Devices before SMR May-2023 Release 1 allows local users to execute code in the mPOS TUI trustlet. The setPartnerTAInfo function fails to validate attacker-controlled input before writing it, permitting an overwrite of trustlet memory. Exploitation requires a highly privileged local context, and the resulting overwrite enables code execution inside the trustlet.
