CVE-2023-21420

Local code execution via externally controlled format strings

Published Feb 9, 2023 · Updated Mar 24, 2025

Externally controlled format strings in STST TA on Samsung Android 10 and 11 Teegris devices allow local users to execute arbitrary code. The trusted application passes attacker-controlled formatting data to a print path; its patch restricts when external format strings can trigger printing. Local low-privileged access is required, and successful exploitation executes code within the STST trusted-application context.
