CVE-2023-21418Network attack vector

Authenticated file deletion via path traversal

Published Nov 21, 2023 · Updated Jun 11, 2025

Path traversal in irissetup.cgi in Axis Communications AB AXIS OS 6.50 through 11.6 allows remote authenticated users to delete files. The VAPIX endpoint fails to restrict a requested deletion path to its intended directory, allowing traversal segments to address files elsewhere. Exploitation requires an operator- or administrator-privileged service account; operators are limited to non-system files, while administrators can cause broader deletion.
