CVE-2023-21415Network attack vector

Authenticated file deletion via path traversal

Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024

Path traversal in AXIS OS 6.50 through 11.5 allows remote authenticated users to delete files through the VAPIX overlay_del.cgi API. The CGI endpoint fails to constrain a supplied file path to the intended overlay location, so traversal sequences direct deletion outside that location. Operator or administrator service-account access is required; operator impact is limited to non-system files, while administrator access expands the deletion scope.
