Kernel privilege escalation via unchecked page unmapping
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Google Android SoC PowerVR-GPU code allows local users to escalate privileges in the kernel without interaction. MMU_UnmapPages in mmu_common.c fails to validate untrusted page-unmapping input before reading beyond the intended bounds. A local process needs no additional execution privileges; successful exploitation crosses into kernel privilege rather than exposing a remote interface.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
