Local privilege escalation via unchecked preferred-SIM change
Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Missing authorization in Android 14 Telephony allows local users in a guest session to gain privileges by changing the preferred SIM. The Telephony component accepts a guest user's preferred-SIM change without checking whether that user is authorized to modify the setting. Exploitation requires local access to a guest session on a multiuser, telephony-capable device, needs no user interaction, and changes a cross-user telephony preference.
