CVE-2023-21358

Local privilege escalation via UWB package impersonation

Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Apr 30, 2025

Improper certificate validation in Android 14 UWB allows local users to gain elevated privileges through a malicious application. The UWB resource-package trust check uses cryptography incorrectly, allowing an app to masquerade as the system package com.android.uwb.resources. Exploitation requires a locally installed malicious app but no user interaction or additional execution privileges, and grants elevated device privileges.
