Local app discovery via Media Projection side channel
Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Information disclosure in Media Projection in Google Android 14 allows local users to identify installed apps without query permissions. Media Projection exposes side-channel information that distinguishes whether a queried app is installed instead of enforcing package-query visibility. A low-privileged local app can perform the check without user interaction; the bounded consequence is disclosure of application inventory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
