Installed-app disclosure via UsageStatsService side channel
Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Information disclosure in UsageStatsService in Google Android 14 allows local users to identify installed third-party apps via a side channel. UsageStatsService produces an observable discrepancy based on whether a targeted third-party application is installed. A locally executing low-privileged application can obtain the information without user interaction, but cannot alter applications or device state through this flaw.
