Local app enumeration via Package Manager side channel
Published Oct 30, 2023 · Updated Oct 11, 2024
Information disclosure in Google Android 14 Package Manager allows local users to identify installed apps through a side channel. Package Manager exposes an observable difference when an app probes another package, bypassing the query-permission restriction on installation-state checks. A locally installed app with ordinary execution privileges can enumerate package presence without user interaction, but cannot alter apps or system state through this flaw.
