Cross-user image disclosure via unvisited nested URIs
Published Aug 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Improper access control in Google Android 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to reveal images belonging to other users. RemoteViews.ViewGroupActionAdd did not override visitUris, so URI validation skipped content URIs inside nested views added to notifications. A local user needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and the flaw crosses Android user boundaries to expose image resources.
