Local system crash via unvalidated XFS metadata

Out-of-bounds memory access in Linux Kernel 6.4-rc1 allows local users to crash the system by mounting a crafted XFS image. During dirty-log recovery, XFS discards an older buffer log item and uses newer on-disk AGF metadata without invoking its verifier, allowing malformed metadata into kernel recovery paths. Mounting the supplied image requires privileged local access; a system crash is demonstrated, while privilege escalation is only a reported possibility.
