Local privilege escalation via unchecked TDLS bounds
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 13 Wi-Fi system code allows local users with System privileges to elevate privileges without interaction. initiateTdlsSetupInternal in sta_iface.cpp reads beyond a buffer because it fails to validate an input boundary before processing a TDLS setup request. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges; the public record does not identify the higher privilege obtained.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
