Local privilege escalation via unchecked WPS input
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 13 System allows local users with System privileges to escalate privilege without user interaction. startWpsPbcInternal in sta_iface.cpp fails to validate input bounds before reading from a buffer, permitting a read past its intended boundary. The attack requires local access and existing System execution privileges, and it completes without user interaction.
