CVE-2023-21176

Credential access denial via oversized key listing

Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Android 13 Keystore2 allows local users with System privileges to disable access to application credentials. The list_key_entries function attempts to return every key descriptor through one size-limited Binder transaction; enough keys make that response impossible. Exploitation requires System execution privileges and no user interaction, and the reported consequence is loss of credential availability rather than disclosure or modification.
