Local SystemUI crash via missing bounds check
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024
Denial of service in Android 13 Framework allows local users to crash the SystemUI menu through a crafted profile name. DevicePolicyManagerService.setProfileName processes the supplied profile name without the required bounds check, causing SystemUI to access an invalid range and terminate. Low-privileged local access is sufficient and no user interaction is required; the disclosed consequence is interruption of the SystemUI menu.
