Kernel privilege escalation via WLAN heap overwrite
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in Android kernel wlandata.cpp allows local users with System privileges to gain kernel-level privileges. The encode function writes beyond a heap buffer while processing WLAN data in the exynos-ril subcomponent. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful corruption elevates control into the kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
