Local information disclosure via incorrect metadata bounds check
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Google Android Camera HAL allows local users with System privileges to disclose process memory via crafted metadata. ConvertToHalMetadata in aidl_utils.cc performs an incorrect bounds check while converting AIDL camera metadata, allowing data to be read past the intended buffer. Exploitation requires System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and has no reported integrity or availability impact.
