CVE-2023-21039

Local information disclosure via incorrect dumpstate bounds check

Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

An out-of-bounds read in Android kernel dumpstate allows local users with System privileges to disclose memory without user interaction. The dumpstateBoard function in Dumpstate.cpp applies an incorrect bounds check and reads beyond the intended buffer. The flaw is reachable only after local System-level execution has been obtained, so ordinary applications and remote peers cannot directly trigger it.
