CVE-2023-21030

Local privilege escalation via double-owned listener

Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Double free in Android 13 keystore_cli_v2 allows local users to escalate privileges through the Confirmation callback. The Confirmation function creates an ndk::SharedRefBase ConfirmationListener with std::make_shared, giving the object two ownership schemes that can release it twice. An unprivileged local process can trigger the flaw without user interaction and obtain elevated execution privileges.
