Local privilege escalation via property-length integer overflow
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Android 13 libufdt allows local users with System execution privileges to gain higher privileges. _ufdt_output_property_to_fdt in ufdt_convert.c converts a uint32_t property length to int without rejecting values near INT_MAX, causing integer overflow and an out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires code already running with System privileges and no user interaction, so the flaw is not an initial-access path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
