CVE-2023-20967

Local privilege escalation via AVDTP bounds error

Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Google Android 11 through 13 allows local users to escalate privileges through a malformed Bluetooth AVDTP packet. The avdt_scb_hdl_pkt_no_frag function in avdt_scb_act.cc uses an incorrect bounds check, permitting a write beyond the valid packet boundary. Low-privileged local access is required; exploitation needs no user interaction and grants higher privileges within the Android system.
