CVE-2023-20960

Local privilege escalation via unchecked deep-link activity

Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Improper input validation in Android 12L and 13 Settings allows local users to elevate privileges by launching arbitrary activities. launchDeepLinkIntentToRight accepts a caller-selected deep-link activity without adequately checking its exported status, start permission, or granted URI access. A malicious app with user execution privileges can reach the path without user interaction and start an otherwise unauthorized activity.
