Local information disclosure via undersized surface-sync import
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Out-of-bounds access in Android 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users with System privileges to disclose process memory. C2SurfaceSyncObj::Import casts an imported handle to HandleSyncMem and maps it without first verifying that its size can hold C2SyncVariables. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges and no user interaction; the resulting access discloses data beyond the undersized object.
