Local information disclosure via SBC offset underflow
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
An out-of-bounds write in Android 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to disclose information through the Bluetooth SBC path. A2DP_BuildCodecHeaderSbc subtracts from a zero buffer offset, causing integer underflow before passing the resulting out-of-bounds pointer to A2DP_BuildMediaPayloadHeaderSbc. Exploitation needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and the documented consequence is limited to local information disclosure.
