Local privilege escalation via AVDT heap overwrite
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in Android 11 through 13 allows local users to elevate privileges through a crafted AVDT write request. The avdt_scb_hdl_write_req function in avdt_scb_act.cc writes beyond a heap buffer while processing the request. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, needs no user interaction, and can compromise the affected device.
