CVE-2023-20927

Local privilege escalation via signature-permission bypass

Published Feb 15, 2023 · Updated Mar 19, 2025

Improper access control in Android Automotive OS 13 allows local users to escalate privileges through a signature-permission bypass. The permissions declarations in AndroidManifest.xml grant signature-level permissions without the required signature authorization. Exploitation requires existing low-privileged local execution on an affected device, needs no user interaction, and obtains elevated platform privileges.
