Local privilege escalation via cross-profile URI misrouting
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Privilege escalation in Android 11 through 13 allows local users to access another profile's file through the system share chooser. ResolverActivity and chooser target classes launch the selected cross-profile intent without rewriting shared URIs with the destination user ID. A local app can trigger the faulty multi-target sharing path without user interaction or additional execution privileges, causing the wrong profile's file to be shared.
