Local activity information disclosure via missing privilege check
Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Information disclosure in Android 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to read other apps' activity information without interaction. RunningTasks.java returns activity details from a UID different from the task's hosting app without checking the caller's privilege or stripping sensitive fields. A low-privileged app can query the affected task APIs; exposure is limited to local activity metadata, with no reported data modification.
