Unauthenticated code execution via DCERPC heap overflow
Published Jun 22, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Heap overflow in VMware vCenter Server 7.0 and 8.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through DCERPC network requests. The DCERPC library request processor uses uninitialized memory while handling a specially crafted packet, producing a heap overflow. No authentication or user interaction is required, but exploitation has high complexity and grants code execution on the host operating system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0 <7.0 u3m
