CVE-2023-20890Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unrestricted file pathname

Published Aug 29, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024

Arbitrary file write in VMware Aria Operations for Networks 6.2 through 6.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The file-write handling fails to restrict an attacker-controlled pathname to an intended directory, permitting content placement at arbitrary locations. Administrative access is required, and a successful write can place executable content on the appliance and achieve remote code execution.
