CVE-2023-20873Network attack vector

Authentication bypass via overbroad Cloud Foundry path exclusion

Published Apr 20, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Security bypass in Spring Boot 3.0.0 through 3.0.5, 2.7.0 through 2.7.10, and older unsupported versions allows remote attackers to reach handlers. The Cloud Foundry Actuator auto-configuration excludes every /cloudfoundryapplication/** request from Spring Security instead of excluding only registered Actuator endpoint paths. Exposure requires deployment to Cloud Foundry, enabled Cloud Foundry Actuator endpoints, and an application handler such as a catch-all mapping; reachable handlers then execute outside the application's security filter chain.
