Root privilege escalation in Raw Disk handling
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025
Local privilege escalation in VMware Fusion 13.0.0 through 13.0.1 allows local users with host read/write access to gain root. VMware identifies the Raw Disk component but has not published the flawed operation or how attacker-controlled input reaches it. Exploitation requires existing read/write access to the macOS host and grants full root control of that host.
