Local privilege escalation via unchecked imgsys_cmdq range
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2024
Improper input validation in MediaTek imgsys_cmdq on affected chipsets allows local users to escalate privilege through an out-of-bounds write. The imgsys_cmdq component omits valid-range checking before a write, allowing the operation to address memory outside its intended bounds. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges and user interaction, limiting reachability to highly privileged local contexts.
